Biography

I am an independent cultural researcher and author, actively engaged in research, teaching and lecturing in Europe, the UK, Korea and the USA. My thematic focus includes art and sustainability, culture and sustainability, aesthetic education, social sculpture and intercultural dialogue. Selected key life events are outlined below:

 

1958

Born in Worms, Germany.

1982

Completed studies in French and German literature (undertaken in Muenster, Aix-en-Provence and Mainz).

1985 onwards

Freelance translator and author in Berlin.

1999

Doctorate awarded, within the Institute for Cultural Studies at Humboldt Universität Berlin, for the dissertation "The New Muse: Impulses from Art to Overcome Consumer Culture". Supported by the Heinrich Boell Foundation.

2004

Co-founded the "und.Institute for Art, Culture and Sustainability" in Berlin.

2009 onwards

In addition to ongoing research, teaching and writing activities, seminars and workshops in the field of Social Sculpture (Joseph Beuys), and initiator of art and cultural projects.
